Hemoptysis (Coughing Up Blood)

Hemoptysis

Hemoptysis refers to coughing up blood from the respiratory tract and can be alarming. It may occur due to infections like TB or pneumonia, chronic lung diseases like bronchiectasis or cancer, or even due to trauma. Dr. Apoorv Krishna promptly evaluates patients presenting with hemoptysis using imaging (chest X-ray or CT scan), blood tests, and bronchoscopy if needed. Treatment focuses on identifying and managing the underlying cause, stabilizing the patient, and preventing recurrence. In mild cases, antibiotics and rest may suffice. In severe or recurrent cases, advanced interventions such as bronchial artery embolization or surgical referral may be necessary. Dr Apoorv Krishna ensures that patients receive a swift and comprehensive evaluation to rule out life-threatening conditions and restore respiratory health.
